Where Did I Go?!?

My goodness, how time flies... I haven't posted in more than a month and I apologize!! (Not that I've got a slew of readers who are panicking because I've been so quiet, but never mind...)

I've gotten exactly no sewing done in the last six weeks because we made an impulsive decision to move back to our previous house, which we had tried to sell but couldn't. So, in just four weeks, we packed up everything and moved back to Redwall.

One of the pluses about going back to Redwall is that I got my old sewing room back: the enormous ballroom in the carriage house. It's large and well-lit, but it's pretty chilly because this is, after all, a 1940s masonry house with absolutely no insulation and all the windows are single-pane glass. Brr. Hubby is in the process of making interior storm windows to keep the worst of the drafts at bay, but I still envision little dollar bills slipping out of the cracks and into the pockets of the oil company that keeps our monster 500-gallon tank filled.

Getting the sewing room set up is, unfortunately, near the bottom of the priority list. Getting the living areas and kitchen organized had to come first. I'm hoping that in the next week or so I can get my work table re-covered so I can start making insulated draperies for the house (another attempt at keeping the heat in).

Here's the current state of affairs:

This is the view from one corner to another. You can see that my table is assembled, but none of my machines are set up yet. Heck, I don't even know where the machines will go yet.
The wagon-wheel lamps are original to the house.

Here's the view from the opposite corner:

When we moved away four years ago, my new sewing room couldn't accommodate a 12-foot table, so I cut it down to 8 feet. Now I really, really regret not keeping the parts I removed! Still, I did fine with an 8-foot table for the last four years, so it should work fine here, too.
I'm itching to get back to sewing; there are so many projects I want to tackle! First up, though, are the draperies. I stumbled on a most excellent fabric sale in North Carolina, at a little shop near Black Mountain, where every fabric I bought was under $4 per yard. What a find!!

  5. I have to agree with LadyRuna! LOL! But glad you are safe and sound. I, for one, was beginning to worry! I simply hate setting up new sewing rooms (was military, moved a lot) where does this go? How am I going to fit this in? Where can I store that? ......
