I've been blaming the crap piled on the cutting table for my sewing block, when it's actually all in my head.marysewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04482564881192516660noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6198394838876044945.post-61468285305456336122013-06-07T22:45:55.587-04:002013-06-07T22:45:55.587-04:00You are so right, Andrea! "It's not a mistake; it's an embellishment opportunity!"<br />This also reminds me of another important point: Never point out the mistakes in your garment!! Nobody cares, and you're really the only one who sees them.Welmoed Sissonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16497763134207170293noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6198394838876044945.post-20823702196911622782013-06-07T22:44:19.007-04:002013-06-07T22:44:19.007-04:00Aww, thank you, Tee!! You have been the wind beneath my winds on many occasion when I am faced with a challenge. I think about the costumes and gowns you've made and I say---let me think outside the box---I can do this. <br /><br />I, too, love the snoop shop! I do this especially when I visit Las Vegas every other year. Those boutiques have the most exquisite clothing. I take clothes into the dressing room and turn them inside out every which a way and snap, snap, snap!!!!! I also learn a lot from the bridal alterations I do. There are some really cool tricks in the industry. Ms Cythnia Guffey -- enough said...fellow bloggers if you get the opportunity to take some classes from her please do. She is an EXCELLENT teacher. My sewing moved to another level after just 1 class from her about 20 years ago! The one item that I'd like to add to the "It's just fabric." section is: Mistakes should be looked upon as design opportunities - you can always piece together sections of the remaining fabric (or add a contrasting fabric) to replace a piece that you accidentally ruined (and the resulting garment may turn out better than the original design).
